ALIET Hosts Research Meet on Engineering–Science Collaboration

On August 28 2026 Andhra Loyola Institute of Engineering and Technology (ALIET) organised a research meeting on “Role of Engineering in Basic Science Research” on Friday, jointly organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Research Cell of ALIET.

Prof. K. V. Thulasi Ram, Senior Scientific Officer, Department of Nuclear and Atomic Physics, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Colaba, Mumbai, was the resource person for the programme. Interacting with faculty members and students, Prof. Thulasi Ram highlighted the growing significance of interdisciplinary research and explained how engineering expertise can make valuable contributions to basic science and help address complex scientific challenges. He shared insights into identifying relevant research areas, developing innovative projects, preparing research proposals, exploring funding opportunities, and establishing institutional collaborations.

Faculty members from ALIET and Andhra Loyola College (ALC) actively shared their research interests and explored possibilities for interdisciplinary collaboration. Students also presented their research ideas and received valuable guidance on refining and developing them into systematic and innovative research projects.

The programme was held in the presence of Rev. Fr. Dr Antony Samy Visuwasam, Secretary and Director, ALIET; Rev. Fr. Dr Francis Xavier, Correspondent, ALC; and Rev. Fr. Dr Emmanuel, Director of Examinations, ALIET. They felicitated the resource person with a shawl and memento and thanked him for his outstanding contributions.

The programme provided an enriching platform to connect engineering with fundamental science, promote collaborative research, and strengthen a culture of innovation among faculty and students.

Dr. Sr. Candy, IQAC Coordinator; Dr. Mariya Priyadarshini, Research Coordinator; Mrs. B. Alekhya, IQAC Member; and Mr. Vidyasagar, HoD and Vice Principal, coordinated the proceedings.

The research meet was widely appreciated by the faculty and students and marked a significant step towards fostering interdisciplinary research and strengthening academic and research collaborations.
